I find myself creepily obsessed with Derren Brown. This illusionist, mind-reader, hypnotist and champion con-artist breezes into town every couple of years with a show that invariably leaves me feeling baffled, slightly queasy but above all royally entertained.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor, one of the 20th Century's biggest movie stars, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 79.
